Whenever people are discouraged about their writing ability, I always tell them that there is an adjustment stage when they first start writing where they are forced to "relearn" how to speak without body language and tone. They have to learn to convey message and mood just through words, which is different.
ReplyDeleteThere are also some removed handicaps like time and breath, meaning that they are now allowed to think about what they really want to be saying and don't need a certain amount of breath to say it, which is why most people error on being formal with long sentences at first.
